Simbeor Update Log
For more detailed description of the new features and benefits see chapter "Getting Started > What Is New" in the Simbeor Manual.
Simbeor 2008 Minor Updates
- August 25, 2008: Undo/redo is implemented for all geometry creation and editing operations. Non critical bug fixes.
- August 12, 2008: Undo/redo is implemented in geometry editor, passivity check and enforcement improvements, bug fix in low-frequency asymptote of S-parameters for structures with t-line and component/coaxial ports related to port calibration.
- August 4, 2008: Touchstone model quality analysis and enforcement of symmetry, reciprocity and passivity added. Non-critical bug fixes.
Simbeor 2008 Release - July 25, 2008
- New geometry synthesis wizard for impedance-controlled single and differential lines in any signal or plane layer of a stackup.
- New geometry synthesis wizard for single-ended vias with stitching vias - can be used for geometry synthesis of both transitions and connector break-out areas.
- Two new multi-pole models for dielectrics. Multi-pole Debye model can be described with a table of measurements of only real part of dielectric constant.
- New linear solver for end-to-end analysis of a channel composed of both internally generated Simbeor models (t-lines and discontinuities) and external Touchstone models.
- Import of Touchstone models for transformations, plotting, comparisons and to use as black-box models in linear networks.
- Adaptive frequency sweep to accelerate analysis and faster algorithm for via-holes through multiple planes.
- Considerable improvements in usability of the interface - new wizards to start in empty solution and finish with a model and plot.
- Support for 64-bit Windows XP, Vista and 2003 Server.
- Tutorial 5 "End-to-end analysis of a simple data channel" is added.
- Multiple enhancements and improvements - see the complete list in "What is new > Simbeor 2008".
Simbeor 2007 Minor Updates
- May 12, 2008: Important super-grid bug fix. It caused singularities in S-parameters in analysis of some mostly planar discontinuities (some bends in particular). The side-effect of this bug fix is slightly higher conductor-related losses at lower frequencies.
- May 5, 2008: Bug fix in analysis of lines with large number of strips. Switching to appropriate log in case of errors in the main thread. Flashing of job controller is fixed.
- April 27, 2008: Serialization/de-serialization of the project and simulation result files is accelerated.
- April 22, 2008: Capability to use non-English alphabets for file and folder names in Simbeor.
- April 6, 2008: Minor bug fix in analysis of structures with multi-segment traces.
- March 6, 2008: Bug fix in generation of Touchstone models for extremely long line segments in case |S21|=0.
- February 26, 2008: More information on computer, OS and graphic card added to Simbeor log to facilitate troubleshooting.
- February 21, 2008: Plots for effective loss tangent added. Messages from the main thread are separated in the log view. Non-critical bug fixes and some improvements in 3D viewer/editor.
- February 11, 2008: Added graticules in geometry editor and legends for mixed-mode parameters graphs. Bug fix in S-parameter model for t-line.
- January 23, 2008: Bug fixes in multi-conductor lossless line analysis and in automatic editor window update.
- January 21, 2008: Differential via-holes optimization page improved. Automatic panning in and out for zoom-in in the orthogonal projection.
